Starting the Journey — Path to AI Researcher

Hi, This is (hopefully) the start of my journey to gain knowledge in AI.

The Why

I've read the AI2027 Doompost,
I keep up daily with new AI model releases.
So I'm fully aboard the hypetrain, And I believe it will have huge impact on the near future.
I think in terms of job oppertunities, theres not much that is safe. I think the only thing you can do facing this insecurity is to keep up with it.

Besides all that, I think its interesting, and like learning about it.

The Goal

I already have a decent surface level knowledge of the workings of AI, and the latest techniques.
However when I try to read any technical paper, I can barely understand a sentence.
I hope to eventually be able to keep up with new research that is coming out, and understand it on a deeper level.
I want to be able to run my own little experiments and research, And have maybe the slightest contribution to the development of AI as a whole.

And possibly start a bachelor program about AI next year, Who knows, maybe become an AI Researcher at a leading company in a few more years. (If were not extinct by then)

The Plan

I hope to do a combination of both reading/studying and running my own experiments/projects. Altho I want to be knowledgable about the latest and best techniques, I also want to keep reinventing the wheel, ignore the leading methods, and figure things out myself.

This blog is supposed to help me stay committed, and also document my journey. Incase you're reading this, well that would be peculiar because I'm just writing this for myself honestly.

The Start

I asked ChatGPT how to start this journey, and got reccomendded to go through the course Neural Networks: Zero to Hero by Karpathy.

After this I hope to make a custom projects implementing these ideas. However not just copy something, I hope to come up with an original dumb little experiment.
